CloudQA – TruRT: Regression Testing That Doesn't Break Every Sprint

Hey HN, I’m Arun co-founder of CloudQA ( https://cloudqa.io/ ). We’ve been building TruRT, our regression testing suite designed to help teams escape the “brittle automation” trap. Here's a pain point I'm sure many of us have encountered: our automated regression suites require a significant and ever-growing amount of maintenance time. We consistently found that even minor front-end changes, such as renaming a button ID or adjusting a CSS selector, can cause a cascade of failures across dozens of test scripts. The downstream effect is twofold: Test coverage stagnates because the QA team's bandwidth is consumed by fixing what's broken, not by creating new, valuable tests. Development velocity slows as the team is forced into a reactive mode, constantly firefighting broken tests instead of performing proactive quality assurance. This shifts the focus from ensuring product quality to simply keeping the test suite functional. Why we built this: In our own experience (and with customer feedback), regression testing often becomes more work than manual testing. We wanted a tool that is resilient, scalable, and easy enough for non-developers to actually use. Here's a quicker look at how our tool, TruRT, approaches this: More Resilient Selectors: It uses contextual awareness to find elements even after minor UI changes like a new element ID. This makes tests far less brittle and drastically cuts down on maintenance. Flexible No-Code: It’s a hybrid model. You can build most tests quickly without code, but you can also inject custom scripts for complex edge cases, so you aren't locked into a rigid, codeless-only workflow. Regression-Focused Design: While many platforms focus on cross-browser infrastructure, this is built specifically for managing the lifecycle of regression suites, with better test grouping, parallel runs, and clearer reporting on what actually broke. Integrated Production Monitoring: You can reuse your existing tests to continuously monitor critical workflows in production. It combines pre-release testing and synthetic monitoring into a single platform. Designed for Lean Teams: It's a lightweight SaaS tool built for startups and mid-sized teams. You get the powerful features you need without the complexity or hefty price tag of bloated enterprise solutions. Here’s a link to the webpage if you’d like a more thorough look into TruRT: https://cloudqa.io/regression-testing-tools We’re offering TruRT as part of CloudQA’s testing-as-a-service platform, available today. Subscription-based pricing, with a free tier for small teams (details here: https://cloudqa.io/ ). We’d love feedback from the HN community: What’s your biggest headache with regression testing today? If you’ve tried codeless/self-healing tools, did they actually reduce maintenance for you? What would make regression automation indispensable for your team? Happy to answer any questions, and looking forward to your thoughts!
