PyDICOS, releasing an open security scanner interface

DICOS is an "Open Standard" for security body scanners, CT or standard X-ray scanners. It is meant to be an inter-operability standard, designed by NEMA and promoted by TSA ( https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/open-architecture ), heavily inspired by DICOM. However there currently aren't any open source implementation of DICOS : you have to contact TSA to get access to binaries of a DICOS developper toolkit. As a further hurdle, big brands of security scanners lobby hard against this standard and opening themselves up to competition. As the CTO of a 3rd-party algorithm provider for scanners, I believe the "Open Architecture" approach is the future for airports. We are releasing the pyDICOS library to make it more accessible and hoping that people make the most out of it around the world, and making it standard everywhere.
