GPTs – A GPT-2 Output Detector to Identify AI-Generated Texts

In early 2023, while working as a data analyst at a tech company, I noticed an increasing concern among content creators and website administrators: how to distinguish between human-written and AI-generated content, specifically texts produced by models like GPT-2. This need stemmed from a growing focus on the authenticity and reliability of content. I delved into the technology behind AI text generation and understood the industry's apprehension about potential abuses. Motivated by this, I set out to develop a tool capable of automatically detecting outputs from the GPT-2 model. It took about eight months of tackling various technical and resource challenges, such as differentiating between human and machine text nuances and managing real-time analysis of large data volumes. Through persistent effort and multiple iterations, I successfully developed "gpts" – a detector designed specifically to identify texts generated by GPT-2.
