TL;DR – Babelfish translates your queries to any language and translates the results back to your original language. Hey HN! I was in Mexico City last week and had to deal with some road closures, but couldn't find any news on them in English. After coming back, I threw this project together. The functionality is pretty simple: it translates your query to a given language, searches the web using the Google programmable search engine API, and then translates the results back to your original language. It's been pretty fun to mess around with– some things I've looked for are Luka Doncic MVP news in Slovenian, the top songs of 2023 in Urdu, and the wikipedia page for Russia in Ukrainian. I also found out that the closures in Mexico City were due to teacher's day protests. I've been reading the webpages by using the built-in browser translator.
