I built a visual builder for prompt engineering AI workflows

My journey to tech started exactly where you’d expect: a useless marine biology degree and 30k of university debt. One thing I got from those days though was a lifelong love of guitar so, after uni, I chased my dream of being a professional muso. All in all I did pretty well, but by 27, I was starting to see the writing on the wall about the kind of future I was staring at if I put off upskilling any longer. Luckily, teaching guitar had led me to learn SEO and I became quite good at it. I decided to pursue it more seriously and after several entry-level gigs, I eventually became head SEO for an international company. Around January last year, I felt the need to investigate AI more seriously - mostly because we were spending 300 dollars per article from human writers and I knew how much I could save if I could get decent results from AI. Thing was, decent AI writing was quite hard to achieve and I found myself going back and forth a LOT with ChatGPT trying to dial it in the way I wanted. I realised that the model was actually quite bad at trying to do more than one or two things at a time and that I’d get the best outcomes (less predictable, samey content) if I broke the steps down. I had also started coding about 3 years earlier and I started building a tool to help me automate the steps I was constantly doing. I ended up publishing it at promptchains.ai - it’s a visual builder for AI workflows. It allows you to: - Prompt Chaining: Chain multiple prompts for complex tasks. - Variable Integration: Customise prompts dynamically. - Diverse Data Scraping: From Google to YouTube and beyond. - Reusable Workflows: Save and share your solutions effortlessly. I started to apply it to client sites and honestly, the results have been spectacular. The posts even survived, for the most part, the recent HCU updates that shook things up. A year later, I decided that having this much power comes with great responsibility, and decided to open it up to the world for free. I want it to be a collaborative platform with high quality solutions for everyone.
