Veriph. One – Free Twilio Verify Alternative

Hi HN! This is Cristian Guerrero, co-founder of Veriph. One: an SDK you embed in your mobile or web app to handle phone-based auth/MFA and user verification for you. We built a specialized service that ensures all non-fraudsters can pass your phone verification process successfully, even in developing markets. In contrast to the incumbents, we have a free plan for startups and indie makers, which is made possible by our new Inverse OTP method. This method is more reliable than conventional OTPs (higher deliverability) and immune to SMS pumping because it lets the user send the OTP instead. Demo available at demo.veriph.one We also provide a white-label UI that simplifies the integration and automatically offers your users multiple options if their context impedes them from using one or more methods. Why work on this? Because I was extremely frustrated at how unreliable phone verification services are. At a previous startup, we lost up to 30% of our acquired users across 7 countries in Latin America each month because OTPs sent via SMS weren’t delivered. This led to angry users contacting customer support, lost revenue, and increased CAC. But the worst part was the cost overruns caused by retries and SMS pumping. After several vendor changes, we realized the outcome was always the same, and these companies didn’t care to fix it. I realized that their services are optimized for MKT and that security and reliability are not prioritized. Worse, they have a conflict of interest because they benefit from retries and SMS Pumping. As an engineer, I decided to take action and build a specialized solution that would work for the specific use case of auth and MFA. The result is a verification-as-a-service product that ensures all legitimate users go through and that costs are always predictable and aligned with your goals (we charge by successful verification or MAU instead of messages). We, the team behind Veriph. One, are very proud of what we have achieved so far and would love your feedback. Especially if you don’t like it, so we can improve. Note: To test it out, you’ll need an API Key; if you don’t want to sign up, let us know in the website’s chat, and we can gladly grant you an anonymous one.
