API for statistical comparison of online product ratings
API for statistical comparison of online product ratings
Sometimes it is not clear whether one product is genuinely better than another based on their online ratings, especially when the number of ratings is not large. I created an API for computing the posterior probability that one product is rated better on average than another, based on their online ratings data. Users submit the number of 1-5 star ratings for products 'A' and 'B', and the data is looked up on an empirical Bayesian model, fitted to a large data set of Amazon ratings. A basic user interface can be tried at the URL above and there is a link at the bottom of the page to the API (at RapidAPI). The first 150 API calls per month are free.
