Bypass soft paywalls with Safari reader mode

Someone sent a link to a NYT article and I noticed that this method reliably allows me to view the article: 1. Open the link. 2. Open reader mode. 3. Reload the page (⌘R). 4. The entire article is now loaded. This appears to work by allowing Reader mode to load the contents of the page before JavaScript hides it.
