Can We Help Inclusivity in Tech?

The other day I read a post about ageism in tech by John Wheeler, and it inspired me to explore something similar. So last night I created a simple website: www.MeltingPotOfJobs.com Lack of diversity is a widely recognized issue within the tech industry. I am a white male and have never experienced the discrimination of being an underrepresented minority. However, I have worked with many different individuals who would fit in that category and wonder how any company could dimiss them based on comfortable hiring processes. It is crazy to me that the most innovative industry is the one that is stuck when it comes to hiring. The Melting Pot of Jobs is a website where employers who welcome all applicants and are trying to do better when it comes to diversity can post jobs. Job seekers can apply with confidence knowing that they won't face any sort of discrimination. Being part of the tech industry, we understand that words without actions are meaningless. That's why I encourage employers to take action and post a job. Anyone who posts a job will have their company logo and a link to their website permanently displayed on the site, showing their support for inclusivity. The goal of this is to eventually serve as a powerful message that shows the many companies who care about this issue, and encourage others to join. www.MeltingPotOfJobs.com It's still a static HTML page - jobs posted will appear within a day or so once I post them. Cheers, Kurtis Berg - kurtis_berg@hotmail.com
